Sherman Tan Studio is a sole trader business primarily run by me (Sherman), the lead photographer, and my wife, Jacqui. She helps out in many areas behind the scenes, from quality control to managing our social media.

Both Jacqui and I are Chinese born in Malaysia and have been living in Melbourne since 2010. Now we call Australia home.

I hold a Masters Degree in Architecture and I still work as a 3D visualiser. My entire career is built helping people create beautiful images.

Most of the time I never physically meet the couples until the day. However, I definitely do encourage that we meet at least one, online. I would love to see and get to know you before taking your photographs!

Definitely. As someone with design background I do enjoy designing albums to tell your love story from page to page. After you pay the invoice and select the photos I will design a draft for you and we will go from there. The album will be sent off to be crafted and printed after you give the final approval. It takes around 4-6 weeks from then for the album to be hand-made and delivered.

We absolutely do. Flights and accomodation can be arranged by you or reimbursed.

Each collection includes a clear starting point so you know what to expect. In many cases, I deliver more when the session naturally produces more beautiful moments, but I prefer to set thoughtful expectations rather than make vague promises.

For studio sessions, you will select your included images from a curated gallery, with the option to upgrade if you would like more.

Depending on the season, it takes 2-6 weeks to receive your final photos. I make sure each image receives the time and attention it deserves to be perfected. If you need it sooner, I do offer a priority delivery service at an additional fee.

In general I recommend and prefer not to alter your natural appearance, except for addressing temporary features like skin blemishes, bruises, scrapes, or acne—unless, of course, you prefer them to be retained in the photos. If there's anything specific you're self-conscious about, please inform me, and I will be particularly mindful of that aspect while posing you.

For other situations, I happen to be pretty darn good at photoshop and I charge an hourly rate.

No. I firmly believe that the editing process is an essential part of creating magical images. Without this crucial step, the pictures are only partially complete. I assure you that I will not overlook any photos you desire, and if you ever feel I may have missed delivering a specific photo, please don't hesitate to let me know. I am more than willing to review my collection and send it to you; after all, I'm only human and may make mistakes. Rest assured, I am committed to ensuring you don't miss out on any precious memories!

Really easy. We will have a call by phone or video call to ensure we’re a great fit, then I’ll send you an invoice + online contract. Once you sign the contract and pay the deposit, the date is booked for you.

Yes. Minus the deposit, the balance can be split into multiple payments leading up to your big day.

It is not common but if I do, I would give you early notice so that you can reschedule your hair and make up appointment.

I have a close connection with many talented photographers that will be able to take my spot if I'm unavailable. In a situation that no one is available - a full refund will be sent back as well as a complimentary session.

Within reason, we will grab umbrellas and embrace nature. Rain makes everything so much more epic. If it’s a heavy downpour, we will seek under-cover optionsso that we don’t ruin your hair and makeup (and my equipment too).

I use multiple professional-grade cameras with multiple lenses so that I can cover both wide and close angles with speed and precision. Every photo taken is saved into multiple memory cards for additional safety against the event of a memory card getting corrupted.
